So Good

My life is so good right now.

School is hard and it's kickin' my butt. But I love it! And despite what my test scores say I'm learning so much.

Clinical is exhausting and it's hard to go sometimes. But every time I don't wannna go I love it when I get there. One of my favorite things is when the nurse I'm working with puts my name on the white board in the patient's room next to "Nurse:"!

Sometimes I see the doctors and the surgeons and I think "I wish I was in med school. Why did I decide against that?" But then I remember the incredible feeling I've felt countless times telling me that I'm where I'm supposed to be doing what I'm supposed to be doing.

My life is good.

Burnt

In my 8 am class on Tuesday my pharmacology professor says "Let's talk. I can see the burn out in your eyes." My first thought was "you can see it in my eyes???"

She told us we're gonna face burnout our whole lives, especially with the career we've chosen. She told us to figure out now how to keep our stress down. She told us we need to take time for ourselves.

I did yoga that night.

It felt good. But I haven't done it since.

This semester is hard. Really hard. And busy. Really busy.

I'm burnt out.

Too Busy

I'm too busy to blog.

But here's the top ten of my first week of school!

1. I don't have class on Monday.
2. I love my new apartment. And I love my roommates so much!
3. I'm so excited for my clinical at the University of Utah and Huntsman Cancer Institute. (I'll be in the OR in 3 weeks!)
4. Football is here! Utah's home opener was the best time I've had in a long time with some of my favorite people in the whole world.
5. I still love wearing new clothes to the first day of school!
6. I learned how to do IV's and how to scrub into surgery.
7. I have some awesome friends in the nursing program.
8. Riding 4-wheelers is so fun! And camping with my family is the best.
9. I'm gonna be so busy and learn so much this semester. I can't wait.
10. My major is better than your major. I just love it so much!

My life is good!

Seven

So I start my 7th semester of college on Monday! SEVENTH!!

How did I get this old?

I remember thinking when I'm in college I'm going to be so old. But I don't feel that old now.

But really. How did 6 semesters of college go by so fast? I feel like I was just moving into Wyview to start my freshman year yesterday and now here I am about to start my (1st) senior year! Can someone please tell me how that happened??

Also, I already have homework.

mind over matter

Every Tuesday and Thursday I have to talk myself into going to my pathophysiology class.

Sometimes I talk myself into it.

Sometimes I don't.

I'm going today! I'm going today! I'm going today!

What do you have to talk yourself into?

elected.-post edit

It turns out that the girl is running still...

She told the current SNA board that she wasn't a member. And they told her she could still run if she payed the money to become a member.

LAME!

So let's hope I win.

Cause I don't win automatically anymore.

elected.

"GIVE COURTNEY A 'SHOT'-YOU'LL LIKE HER A LOT!"

That's my campaign slogan!

I'm running for BYUSNA (Student Nurses' Association)!

But it turns out that I'm the only one running for Membership Director, so I win by default.

Congrats to me!

(kristen helped me with my poster! she's the best ever!)

p.s. I really love my poster! It's so dang cute.

Don't you agree?

War's End Kiss

I'm so close to the end of the war {at least my fall semester war}. If only I had a cute boy to kiss me like this after my last final tomorrow night.

a little bit of everything

Remember this?!

A year has passed since I posted that. A year is a long time. But not very long at all.
How is that?
My little mortal mind has a hard time comprending time.

Finals. They start tomorrow. Wow. This semester has gone by so fast. And so slow.
How is that?

I'm excited for Christmas. And more snow. And to go home.

Can I tell you how much I love the girls in my ward?
They are just fantastic!

{p.s. I'm addicted to blogging. Not that I wasn't before. I've just been blogging like crazy lately.}

{oh. and here's a picture just for kicks and giggles. enjoy.
I love you all!}

Dreams Do Come True

Yesterday, June 26th, was a very anxious day for me. But at 3:10 p.m. all my anxiety was replaced by excitement. If you would've been walking by my apartment at that time you would have heard two girls screaming and jumping up and down.

I had this crazy dream that I really wanted to get into the nursing program at BYU. After being a huge slacker my freshman year I kicked myself into shape and worked super hard my sophomore to get my grades up. And I started volunteering like crazy! I got my GPA way up. But I was still afraid it wouldn't be enough. I had no idea what I was going to do if I didn't get into the program.

And yesterday I received an email from the nursing advisement saying this:

"Congratulations! Your application for entrance to the Nursing program at BYU has been reviewed and the College of Nursing Acceptance Committee has voted to grant you acceptance to the program for Fall 2009."

:)

I was freaking out! I ran down the hall way and started screaming and jumping up and down with Kristen. Then I called my mom, dad, Nichelle and Kelsey. Then I texted Lee, Chris, and Sara. And started texting everyone I could think of! I hadn't even read the first paragraph of the email yet. I was on cloud nine all of yesterday. And still am!

I had a dream. And it came true! :)

Thanks to everyone who has been such an awesome support to me through all of this! You know who you are. I couldn't have done without you! I love you all!

I feel like this girl right now! I'm done! I made it through the semester I never thought I would make it through. :)

today

I posted this about a week and a half ago in regards to my humanities test....

I found out how I did on my test yesterday, and I felt like this:

But then I went to class and got my test back. I noticed that my professor added my points wrong...and I felt like this!!! I'm not sure if I've ever been more happy about a test! It was the most wonderful feeling!

"Religion" Girl

I swear this girl has a list of compliments in her head that just spontaeously pops out of her mouth everytime I see her. Like today, for example, I walked in, the piano had already started playing for the hymn, and before I even sat down she told me she liked my coat! How did she have time to see me and register that she liked me coat??

Here's a list of the compliments I have recieved from her so far:
-"I could see you as nurse" (The first day I met her)
-"I really like your hair" (It was in a pony tail)
-"I really like your blue shirt" (It was not blue)
-"Oh what a pretty necklace"
-"I really like your vest"
-"I like your coat"
-"Those are cute shoes"
-"You just look adorable today"
And this doesn't even include all the questions she likes to ask me.

I've realized that maybe I shouldn't be so mean, but she really annoys me with her compliments. And I know she's just trying to be nice. But she's trying to hard. And it is possible to be too nice.

Any suggestions on what I should do about overly nice "religion" girl?

classes will dull your mind, destroy the potential for authentic creativity

I'm feeling pretty bored this semester so far. I'm taking a bunch of GE classes while I wait to apply to Nursing again, so it's kind of a bunch of classes I don't really want to take. I'm only taking 13 credits this semester. And I'm in two religion classes, which I'm really liking.

Humanities 202:

Too much reading and writing for my liking. The professor said that A's are exceptional work. I hope I can come out with one.

Political Science 110:

I'm actually retaking this class, unfortunately. And I did get a fairly good grade the first time I took this. But the Nursing Program suggests I take it again. So I obey. I think I will like it better the second time around. And the other day I sat next to kid who was looking at guns online....

Statistics 221:

I'm not a big fan of stats. I'm not really looking forward to this class. A lot of people. Standardized tests. Not my cup of tea.

Doctrine and Covenants:

I'm already liking this class a lot. I love my teacher. And I've already learned a lot. I love church history. And I'm excited for what I can learn about the gospel in this class.

Hymns of the Restoration:

I'm loving this class. My professor is great. And my reading is hymns, how great is that. I'm excited to learn about the backgrounds of the hymns and to learn more about the doctrines of the church through the hymns. I do have to sit by a girl who has to find something to compliment me on every day. Like "I really like your hair" "oh thanks, it's just in a pony tail." Or "I like the color of your binder" She's starting to annoy me. I guess it will give me a great lesson in patience.

I hope this semester goes as well as last semester for me or even better. Let's hope I can find some motivation.
