I was talking to one of my closest friends (Emily) today. I started talking to her about the nursing program, which I'm sure she is sick of because that's pretty much all I talk about lately. But she said this to me, "man, is it even worth all of this? ultimately, it's just one of many nursing programs. and it's giving you a LOT of grief. the goal is to be a nurse--why do you have to go through all nine circles of hell to become one?" And it got me thinking about why I want to get into the BYU nursing program SO badly! And I've come up with a list:
-I'm already at BYU
-I really love BYU
-I don't really want to leave Utah (family, friends, etc.)
-I don't want to go to UVU (no offense to you Wolverines)
-I don't want to wait another year before applying to another program, like the University of Utah's for example
-I don't really want to go anywhere else and if I have to go somewhere else the only other place I want to go would be Utah
-I don't want to major in something else
-etc., etc., etc.
But this also made me realize that the BYU nursing program isn't everything. And there are plenty of other great nurisng programs out there. Although the BYU nursing program isn't the only great nursing program, I really do want to get in and I have been working really hard. And going through the nine circles of hell will be worth it if I get in. And if I don't, at least I've been refined, right? So, here's to crossing my fingers for the next 2-3 months! :)
Courtney, I completely know where you are coming from! Every reason you just listed about staying at BYU and trying to get into their program is something that has crossed my mind in the last couple of weeks since I got pseudo-rejected from my program.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to you and let's cross our fingers together!
